ORGRO® High Organic Compost is a line of premium quality, organic soil conditioner, natural fertilizer and mulch products. ORGRO compost conditions the soil with increased organic matter, enabling increased water and nutrient retention for vigorous plant growth and is suitable for a variety of beneficial uses. ORGRO products are created by composting a mixture of Exceptional Quality biosolids, wood chips, sawdust and carbon ash. Each ORGRO product is environmentally safe when used as directed below and meets the highest level of State and Federal biosolids quality standards.




ORGRO Premium Compost - A finely screened and uniform texture, high organic compost, ideally suited for use as a soil amendment, top dressing for turf and ornamentals or potting mix component.

Professional - A limited use compost with no lime added, recommended for use in commercial, agricultural, institutional and governmental applications.

Consumer - A general use soil conditioner, recommended for any planting situation where a sweeter soil is desired or for resale to the public.

ORGRO Whole Compost - a coarser mix of composted biosolids and woodchip, recommended for incorporation into soil, as an amendment or as a component of a potting mix. Ideally suited for field nursery production.

ORGRO Mulch - Composted, dark, wood chip resulting as a byproduct of the composting process. Used as a top dressing for tree, shrub and flowerbeds, ORGRO Mulch is an attractive source of plant nutrient as well as a weed suppressant and water conserving horticultural product.

Turf and Sod
Establishment - For bed preparation to establish a stand of turf, apply 3 to 5 cubic yards of ORGRO Compost per 1,000 sq. ft. of existing soil. Mix well, to a depth of 4”-6”.
Renovation/Topdress – to renovate existing turf, apply 1 to 2 cubic yards per 1,000 ft2 and rake to spread uniformly throughout existing turf.
Sod - For sod installation apply .75 cubic yards per 1,000 sq. ft., spread evenly over prepared soil prior to laying sod. Irrigate for proper establishment.

Landscaping and Planting - For soil improvement before planting, mix one-third ORGRO Compost, to two-thirds soil by volume in the planting bed. Mix to depth of 4 to 6 inches. To fertilize or topdress established plantings, evenly apply 1 cubic yard of ORGRO Compost per 1,000 sq. ft. Irrigate well for best results.

Topsoil - To produce a high quality topsoil, mix one-third compost, to two-thirds soil, by volume.

Container Media and Potting Mixes
For nursery container growing media and potting mixes, blend equal parts of ORGRO Compost with other recipe components (i.e., peat, vermiculite, perlite, screened styrofoam, pine bark fines or sandy loam) with a maximum rate of 33%. Water thoroughly after planting.

Mulch - Apply a 2"-3", uniform layer of ORGRO Mulch on surface of beds and around the base of trees and shrubs. Repeat mulch applications as necessary to suppress weeds and provide a source of nutrients and water.

ORGRO may contain over 4% iron. Cattle and other ruminates can develop a health condition from a diet too rich in iron, therefore, ORGRO is not recommended for use on pastureland. ORGRO shall not be distributed for use in growing food crops or tobacco products.  

The source of nutrients in ORGRO® High Organic Compost is derived from biosolids generated at the Baltimore City wastewater treatment facilities.
